The SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon organisers have released images of what this year’s medal will be for the 20,000 expected runners to take part.
It celebrates the 350th anniversary of the birth of Jonathan Swift, one of Ireland’s greatest writers and satirists and author of Gulliver’s Travels.
Swift’s bust takes centre stage on the medal but the position of the sponsors is also recognised in the wreath of raised lettering around that and in the incorporation of the company brand as part of the medal itself.

SSE Airtricity announced last week that they were extending the duration of their partnership of what is now Europe’s fourth largest Marathon by an additional two years and will be unveiling new and innovative ways of activating the partnership over the coming months.
This year’s race will be streamed live online for the first time and the runners will pass St Patrick’s Cathedral where Jonathan Swift was dean and is buried.
