Siofra Cleirigh Buttner qualified for the Final of the 800 metres at the World University Games in Naples last night.

The Dubliner made it through as the fastest loser from the three semi finals and will go into the final with the sixth fastest time overall.

Alannah Lally finished sixth in her semi final and Cliodhna Manning did not make it to the start line for the 400 metres semi final.

There was disapointment for the Irish Men’s team in the football who suffered a quarter final defeat to Russia.
