AIB has been included on the shortlist for Content Creation in the inaugural Leaders Sports Award, a global search for companies and individuals who are shaping the future of sport.
A place on the shortlist is recognition for the ground-breaking content produced by way of activation of AIB’s GAA sponsorships as part of the multi-award winning #TheToughest campaign.
The only Irish campaign included on this year’s global shortlist, AIB will be up against some of the most recognisable brands in sport. including golf’s European Tour, football’s European Governing Body UEFA, US Major League Soccer Team, LA Galaxy, the Men’s Professional Tennis Tour, ATP, Wimbledon and the All England Tennis Club, Premier League Clubs Liverpool FC, Manchester City FC and Manchester United and broadcasters, Discovery & Eurosport.
Entries were received from 28 different countries following a six-month global search. The shortlist was composed following a review and scoring of all nominations in a two-stage process by a panel made up of over 100 sport industry executives.
“Over the last year, we have set ourselves the objective of not just showcasing GAA with its amateur ethos and community roots as #TheToughest Sport of all but ensuring that our content appealed beyond the traditional GAA fans to as wide an audience as possible,” said AIB Head of Group Brands, Mark Doyle, pictured above with Sponsorship manager Patrick Somers.
“To be recognised amongst the biggest and best names in world sport is phenomenal and a testament to the strength of our agency partners.”
The winners will be announced at an Awards ceremony that will take place on 9th October 2018 at the Natural History Museum in London.
AIB’s latest accolade follows on the back of considerable success including picking up a bronze at the prestigious Clio Sport Awards in New York, Best Sponsorship in EMEA at the SABRE Awards, as well as Best Use of Digital PR at the Irish Excellence in PR Awards.
We have long been fans of #TheToughest campaign. It has set a standard in sports marketing that has challenged and encouraged many other brands to produce some of the best and most imaginative marketing there is. Ireland’s success at the European Sponsorship Awards since the inception of Sport for Business six years ago has been one of the most continually exciting and engaging areas of the work we cover.
Congratulations to the team on this deserved recognition.
