Dublin GAA and AIG launched their partnership for the year ahead at Parnell Park yesterday with a media day involving some of the key players from last year’s double-winning football teams as well as hurling and camogie.
This is the fifth year of a five year initial deal between the county’s GAA teams and the insurance giant and we carry an exclusive interview today with AIG Sponsorship manager John Gillick on how the deal has developed.
Later this week we will publish an interview with Dublin GAA Commercial manager Tomás Quinn on how the county has refined its approach to commercial partnerships over recent years and how it is partnership in the widest sense with the Dublin GAA community that is the main driver of how and why they are signing deals.
Dublin are box office and the four players Dean Rock, Danny Sutcliffe, Leah Caffrey and Eimear McCarthy feature in photos and interviews across most of the national media this morning.were in Parnell Park today to launch AIG Insurance’s latest car insurance offering.
There are strong branded images from Sportsfile to accompany the pieces and reference in many to the deal on up to a 30 percent discount on insurance premiums for Dublin GAA club members and fans that is being rolled out at what is a key period for insurance renewals.
“With more big games earlier in the year than ever before, 2018 could be the most exciting year ever for the GAA,” said AIG General manager Declan O’Rourke.
“As the very proud sponsors of Dublin GAA, AIG wishes all the Dublin teams and management the best for 2018.”
“It is an exciting time for both new and existing customers of AIG also, with the launch of great value deals for claims free customers across car, home and travel insurance.
“Thanks to Leah, Eimear, Dean and Danny for being here today, and we wish them, their teammates and management all the best for 2018.”
The conversation around a potential renewal of the deal is only just beginning and will be developed over the course of the year ahead but there is plenty to keep both sides occupied in the meantime.
