Amy’s 12 Seconds of AIG Magic

Later this morning AIG will reveal the winner of the first of its 20X20 Show Your Skill Challenge winning videos but we’ve been given permission to bring you a sneak look at the twelve seconds that won.

Step forward Amy O’Shea from Kilkenny whose two-take strike against a football on a crossbar against the gable end of her home in Kilkenny was not only skilful but sparked a celebration that can only bring a smile to your face.

Her Dad is Chair of the local Camogie Club and doubled up as cameraman for the winning shot.

AIG launched the competition in February as part of their support for the 20×20 movement. We could hardly have imagined at the time that there would be so much time at home, separated from teammates, in order to practice those same skills.

This is the first of the winners with a call out for five more across April, May, June, July and August. The initiative is open to all female athletes at all levels across all sporting codes to showcase their skill.

To make your kid’s ears perk up at the thought of all that practice for that one ace moment, there is a monthly €1,000 prize on offer.

Participants are asked to upload a short video to AIG.ie/Skills performing a skill in their preferred sport.

“There is so much sport and such wide diversity that we expect some real fun and real talent to emerge,” said John Gillick, AIG Sponsorship Manager at the launch.

“It could emerge from any sport or activity and it is a real opportunity to get recognition and a decent cash prize to mark the talent that is out there.”

The judging panel consists of supporters from across the sporting and business community and includes Louise Kidd, the AIG Champion of our Game Changer Network which will launch for 2020 in the coming weeks, Kelli O’Keeffe from Teneo, Dublin GAA’s Tomás Quinn, Camogie star Laura Twomey and Rob Hartnett from Sport for Business.

And here is Amy’s 12 seconds of wonder…
