If you are looking for teamwork then the Irish Defence Forces appear to have it nailed.

The rain may have put a bit of a dampener on last night’s Grant Thornton 5K Run around Dublin’s Docklands but it did not interfere with the plan for the Defence Forces team who filled 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 12th in the individual men’s race en route to a comfortable victory in the team event.

Friend of Sport for Business and two time Olympian Colin Griffin just too good in the individual race. He came home first in a time of 16:09.

Counting the mixed team runners, the fastest run of the night was recorded by Conor Dooney of the NTMA and the only one to break 16 minutes.

The Defence Forces B team came runners-up in the team event with Facebook in 3rd. HSBC, Davy, BNMY Mellon and Deloitte were also in the top ten teams to finish.

Blaithin Shiel of FLAC Ireland won the women’s race with BBH Ladies coming in first of the teams ahead of KPMG and Facebook.

Jill Hodgins running for the mixed team of AL Goodbody recorded the fastest Woman’s time and Bank of Ireland came out top in the Mixed category.

Over 1,000 teams of four took part in the race, run for the seventh year under the banner of Granth Thornton and the organisation of Athletics Ireland.
