Dundrum Town Centre was abuzz with Basketball on Saturday as sixteen teams from the Basketball Ireland men’s and women’s national leagues took part in Ireland’s first ever 3×3 tournament at the heart of the consumer citadel.
“Our very first Hula Hoops 3×3 championships were a tremendous success,” said Hula Hoops Brand Manager at Largo Foods Ian O’Rourke.
“Over 9,000 people engaged with the event here in Dundrum, which is fantastic. Our partnership with Basketball Ireland is going from strength to strength and we’re looking forward to continuing to grow basketball in Ireland.”
What a day. Thanks a lot to all the players and of course @HulaHoopsIE for helping making it such a great showcase for Irish basketball. Lots learned and can’t wait to see what next year brings. #HulaHoops3x3 pic.twitter.com/dfLRAzAyND

The tournament drew large crowds throughout the full day of action on the specially built court and was trending across social media through most of the day as well.
Spin 103.8 were on hand as media partners and broadcasting news and inserts from the games all across their schedule.
It was an ambitious move by Basketball Ireland to go big on one of the busiest weekends of the sporting year but it certainly seems to have paid off in terms of the interest generated.
