Basketball Ireland and the Mardyke Arena UCC have announced what is expected to be the first of a number of commercial partnerships around this year’s FIBA Small Countries Women’s European Championships being staged in Cork next month.
Blackwater Motors will be the official car partner for the Championships, which will tip off on June 26th and sees Ireland senior women’s team compete with Luxembourg, Norway and Cyprus in Group B in the battle for European honours.
“Blackwater Motors are delighted to partner with the Mardyke Arena UCC and Basketball Ireland for this exciting event and to be official car partners of the FIBA European Championship For Small Countries,” said William Daly, Assistant Sales Manager at Blackwater Motors Volkswagen Forge Hill. “We look forward to the competition and wish all teams competing the best of luck.”
“We’re thrilled to welcome Blackwater Motors on board,” added Marketing and Quality Manager at the Mardyke Arena UCC Wayne Falvey.
“We are delighted to get the support from a local Cork company, and we are looking forward to working with them as the countdown to tip off continues.”
The announcement came just days after Basketball Ireland successfully hosted a major 3×3 tournament at Dundrum Town Centre in Dublin, sponsored by Hula Hoops as part of their extended partnership with the sport.
The Women’s tournament there was won by Ambassador UCC Glanmire, captained by Grainne Dwyer who is expected to star for Ireland in the Championships on home soil.
