The BT Sport Industry Awards took place at a sparkling event in London on Thursday night with familiar campaigns taking away the biggest prizes on the night.
Channel 4 television won the best Campaign of the Year for the ‘We’re the Superhumans’ support for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio.
Our Parks won the Community Programme of the Year. It is an initiative run across all of London’s boroughs to have ‘pop up’ fitness classes in public parks, led by qualified instructors and all to get people more physically active.
England Hockey won the award for best Governing Body of the year while there were awards for the Six Day London event in cycling, for the technology partnership between Catapult and English Cricket, for Two Circles as the Agency of the Year and BBC Sport as the Digital Platform of the Year.
Standard Chartered won the International Marketing Campaign of the Year Award for their work on ‘Inside Anfield’ with Liverpool Football Club while Adidas won the Brand of the Year and picked up a second gong for the Social Media Campaign of the Year.
Sir Philip Craven of the International Paralympic Committee won the Leadership in Sport Award while the Lifetime Contribution Award went to Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill.
The Irish equivalent of the Sport Industry Awards, organised by the Federation of Irish Sport and where Sport for Business was a winner in 2016, will take place in November with entries and nominations opening in September for campaigns, projects, brands and events that have taken Irish sport to a new level over 2017.
