Soccer super star Hope Solo and former heavyweight champion of the world Frank Bruno and are two of the confirmed key note speakers at One-Zero 2017, which launches today and will take place at Croke Park on October 17th.
Sport for Business is an official partner of One-Zero and part of the team bringing this exciting event back to Dublin.
Tickets for the sports and technology conference are now on sale from One-Zero.com.
Hope Solo is one of the biggest names in world soccer having represented the United States on 202 occasions and in that time winning a World Cup and two Olympic gold medals over the course of a sixteen-year international career. Of those 202 games, she started in 190, won 153 and kept 102 clean sheets.
Off the pitch, she is well known for her outspoken efforts to secure better pay from US Soccer for the US women’s team. She believes that was the real reason for a six-month suspension that has threatened to end her international career and will speak about this and her on-field successes at Croke Park.
Frank Bruno enjoyed a hugely successful professional boxing career winning European and world titles and challenging for world titles on several more occasions. The highlight of his career was his 1995 defeat of Oliver McCall at Wembley which saw him crowned the WBC world champion. In his 45 professional bouts, he won 40 times, 38 of those wins coming by way of knockout.
At One-Zero he will reflect on his glittering boxing career and his even more admirable fight against bipolar disorder. He was diagnosed with the illness in 2003 putting him firmly in the public eye.
He used the media attention it generated to help reduce the stigma attached to mental health issues and to help raise the standards of care given to those who suffer from them. Bruno supports many charities in the area of mental health both financially and with his time.
“One-Zero is about the ever-changing ways that we tell stories through the medium of sport,” said One-Zero co-founder Rob Hartnett.
“Both Solo’s and Bruno’s stories are compelling. They’ve been hugely successful sports people but they have been just as powerful in a wider context. We’re delighted that they will be at Croke Park on October 17th.”
“The objective of One-Zero is to look at sport through a different lens. We will deliver exclusive live content with sport as the focal point from game changers, seasoned professionals and future leaders as we look to build on the success of the inaugural One-Zero in 2016.”
“One-Zero will also provide an important platform for international start-up companies in the sports and technology space, delivered in partnership with Journey Partners and SportsTech Ireland, and we will be announcing more partnerships and a special Leadership element to the day in the coming weeks.”
Three more key note speakers will be announced in the coming weeks while twelve panel discussions will also take place.
Topics that will be covered include Performance Nutrition where Team Sky’s Dr James Morton will contribute; the Future of Football with former Manchester United CFO and President of Teneo Sports Andy Anson; and the Future of Women’s Sport with Head of the Women’s Game at World Rugby Katie Sadleir.
Well known RTÉ sports broadcaster Evanne Ní Chuilinn will act as MC on the day while several other professionals from the sporting and sports business world will moderate the panel discussions.
Tickets for One-Zero are now available for purchase exclusively at One-Zero.com and are priced from €159.
