Cabinteely FC will host FIFA World Cup hopefuls New Zealand in a friendly match to mark the clubs Golden Jubilee celebrations.
The game will take place at Stradbrook in Blackrock on the evening of June 6th and will be part of New Zealand’s three match summer tour, bookended by friendly international matches against Northern Ireland and Belarus.
The game will be preceded the week before by an evening with Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire.
“These two events are being staged not only to celebrate our Golden Jubilee but also to than those who have helped us along the way,” said Cabinteely Chairman Larry Bass.
“We are a forward looking club catering for boys and girls, women and men, and special needs teams in a football for all ethos and the staging of these two prestigious events on our home patch are a demonstration of our ambition for the future.”
The FAI have been involved in supporting the international fixture arrangements and New Zealand Head Coach Anthony Hudson said “Cabinteely will represent a good test for us against a well organised and well coached team.”
