Camogie Boost From Extra TV

This year’s Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Camogie Championship has received a huge boost with confirmation that all of the knockout matches of the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship will be broadcast live on RTÉ television for the very first time.

It is a reflection of the growing demand from the general public and from sponsors for more coverage of Women’s sport and comes off the back of last year’s coverage of the semi finals of the All Ireland series.

Liberty Insurance are entering the final year of a five year deal with the Camogie Association, for sponsorship of the Championship and the timing of the announcement on the increased television coverage, together with the wider overall reach that will bring, will frame discussions that will take place over the summer on any potential extension of the partnership.

Liberty Insurance also used the Championship launch to provide more detail of the ‘Squad Goals’ campaign it is running across the country designed to find Ireland’s most skilful Camogie squad.

The winning squads will feature in a TV advertisement to be filmed over the course of the summer, take part on All Ireland Finals day in September and win major cash prizes for their club.

“We’re delighted to see the increased television coverage of this year’s Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship, and are looking forward to one of the highlights of the summer sporting calendar,” said Director of Personal Lines at Liberty Insurance Deirdre Ashe.

“We’re thrilled to be continuing too with this year’s Squad Goals competition; building on last year’s success, the winning Camogie club will have the chance to win €8,000, feature in a new TV ad and showcase their skills in Croke Park at the Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Camogie Championship Finals on the September 10th 2017.”

“Increased live coverage of the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship is not only a huge additional carrot for all teams to reach the Quarter-Finals but an extra opportunity for TV viewers to enjoy the thrilling spectacle of top-level Camogie.”

“We are running a #RaiseTheBar marketing campaign this season with further details of the campaign to be revealed through online platforms over the coming weeks and months.”

“The focus for this year’s campaign is to Raise The Bar in every context – players, managers, volunteers and supporters.”

“We’re asking people to come out and support the Championship and to play their part in raising the bar in 2017.”
