Camogie In Store with Tesco for Two Years

Tesco Ireland has signed a 2-year deal to become the Camogie Association’s Youth Development partner.

The partnership will see Tesco support the All-Ireland Post-Primary Camogie Schools Championships as well as the All-Ireland Minor Camogie Championships.

Additionally, the sponsorship will see Tesco support the Association’s Camán to Croker and Hurl With Me development initiatives.

Youth Development is a key area within the Association that touches all corners of the country at grassroots level.

The work of both staff and volunteers within this area at Club and County level is aimed at ensuring that the sport is inclusive to any young woman or girl who wishes to participate in the game by providing them with opportunities to play the game at recreational and competitive levels.

There will also be a significant engagement between local Tesco stores and the clubs within their community, to activate their initiatives over the lifetime of the agreement.

“I am delighted to welcome Tesco Ireland as the latest sponsor of the Camogie Association,” said Camogie Association President, Kathleen Woods.

“This commitment to our sport will enable the continued growth we have seen in recent years.”

“Youth Development is a cornerstone of our sport as we continuously look to bring through future generations of players. We strive to create an environment which is fun and inclusive and allows all players to develop to their full potential and most importantly to enjoy playing Camogie.”

“This sponsorship will enhance the work already being done in this area and we look forward to working with Tesco Ireland to find new and innovative ways to ensure an enjoyable experience for all young players within the sport.”

“We’re thrilled to secure this new partnership with the Camogie Association and we look forward to helping to inspire and empower young women and girls as they progress through the game’s life cycle,” added Kari Daniels, CEO of Tesco Ireland.

This is Tesco’s second major sporting engagement in 2020 with an existing partnership with Swim Ireland coming to life this month and through the year as well.

The brand joins Liberty Insurance and Littlewoods Ireland as the main commercial partners of the Camogie Association.
