Canoeing Ireland has appointed Moira Aston to be its new CEO. She will take up the position at the beginning of December.
Aston joins the organisation having worked at Athletics Ireland since 2007.
She is currently the Director of Operations there and has extensive experience in the management and development of a National Governing Body.
Before taking on that role she was Competitions Manager and also has wide experience in Safeguarding.
She is currently completing an MSc in Business at the UCD Smurfit Business School.
“We are delighted that the interview process resulted in identifying an excellent choice for CEO,” said Canoeing Ireland President Paul Donnelly.
“Moira brings a wealth of skills, experience, and enthusiasm that will enable us to serve our members effectively.”
“We look forward to working closely with Moira to deliver the strategies incorporated in our Strategic Plan.”
“I am delighted to be joining Canoeing Ireland at this exciting time for the sport,” added Aston. “I look forward to working with the Board, the staff and the many volunteers to build on the strong foundations that have already been laid and I welcome the opportunity to explore new opportunities for growth.”
Aston replaces Paddy Boys who has served as interim CEO for the past 18 months, as well as providing vital support to Pentathlon Ireland over recent times ahead of the Laser-Run World Championships.
