It will be a special night in Dublin tonight when the GAA summer is recounted through the celebration of the PwC All Stars at the Convention Centre.
This is the first year that PwC has come on board as partner of one of the most iconic awards there is in the sport. The All Star recognition is an individual honour in a team sport and one which is brought back with enormous pride to clubs up and down the country.
It’s an opportunity for players themselves to meet in a relaxed environment and to hail those who they have played alongside or come up against over the course of the Championship.
PwC’s involvement over the coming years will highlight the achievement of players throughout the whole of the year and will include content that gets under the skin of the players in a way that is increasingly important for sponsors.
Vodafone’s Team of Us Campaign this year, which we revealed for the first time yesterday, also taps into the personal stories behind the moments of glory.
This year’s nominees for Footballer of the Year include James McCarthy from Dublin who filmed this evocative piece alongside his Dad John, talking about the moment he came fourth in a cross-country event at school right up to a soaring catch four minutes from the end of this year’s All Ireland Final that lifted the roof off of Croke Park.
It will be a great night, we look forward to recognising those who have lit up the summer in Football and Hurling and then again tomorrow night at Citywest when Liberty Insurance and the Camogie Association celebrate those who have done likewise within that sport.
