Cork GAA and Chill Insurance have renewed their sponsorship deal for a further two years.
The agreement covers the Cork representative teams in Hurling and Football but only in the men’s games. SuperValue and New Ireland Assurance are the supporters of the Camogie and Ladies Football teams both of which made it to their respective All Ireland Finals this year.
The deal extends the partnership now to eight years and while the length of the deal is shortter than most of the major GAA renewals signed this year, with AIB at Championship level and AIG with Dublin GAA it is nevertheless a positive as Pairc Uí Chaoimh settles in as the shiny new home of Gaelic Games in the county.
The deal is the first to be agreed under the Chairmanship of Tracey Kennedy or the last under County Secretary Frank Murphy who is serving his final year before retirement.
Previous deals are believed to have been worth in the region of €350,000 per annum and while the Cork hurlers showed signs of returning to the top in the past year it has been 2010 since the last All Ireland Senior Football title, 2005 since the last in Hurling and 2013 since the last Senior All Ireland in either code.
