Ireland’s Men’s cricket team came close to a major victory over England at Malahide on Friday and also announced that the follow on games taking place here against the West Indies and Bangladesh would be covered with a highlights package on RTÉ Television.
Friday’s game was televised live on Sky while Sunday’s match against the West Indies was live streamed on the BBC Website, as will be the case with each of the remaining matches in the Walton One day International Series.
The remaining three games that Ireland will play, all at Malahide, will also have a highlights package broadcast on RTÉ on the 9th, 11th and 15th May.
Cricket Ireland is also expected to make an announcement today with regard to the Women’s game in Ireland and we will bring you news of that tomorrow morning.
Friday’s game at Malahide saw Ireland come close to what would have been only a second ever one Day International victory over England, going favourite in the betting odds at one point in the afternoon after a stellar spell of bowling looked to have England on the ropes.
The World Cup hosts did come through in the end but with three young Irish players making debuts for the National team and Josh Little, in particular, shining, taking four wickets it was a positive day for the sport.
It was also a big weekend for Gary Wilson who won his 100th One-day International cap and also passed 2,000 runs in the format while playing for Ireland.
