IAbbey Travel has signed a two year extension to its role as the Official Travel Supplier for both the Irish Cricket Team and the Irish Supporters.

The deal will cover travel to the ICC World Cup in Australia and new Zealand next March. Packages for fans for that tournament are available now at a cost just under €5,000 including flights, accommodation, transfers and Category A match tickets.

Irelands matches will include against South Africa in Canberra, Zimbabwe in Hobart, India in Hamilton and Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval.

Excited

“Abbey Travel is very excited about the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup and are delighted to be given the opportunity to provide best value packages for the ‘Blarney Army’ and to continue our successful relationship with Cricket Ireland,” said Geraldine Armstrong, Abbey Travel Sports Manager.

“Ireland has produced some memorable performances at the last two World Cups and the Blarney Army has been behind the team every step of the way,” added Ireland team manager Phil Simms.

“The pride Ireland fans put in the green jersey can’t be underestimated as a motivating factor, and we’re looking forward to seeing a big Irish support out in Australia and New Zealand to get behind the boys.”

Search

Cricket Ireland is underway with a search to bring an overall sponsor on board from January 1st 2015, a long term deal to succeed RSA and which will cover the World Cup and matches next year against England and Australia.

“This extended deal with Abbey Travel is a great vote of confidence in our International teams and the progress that Cricket Ireland has also made “off the pitch”,” said Head of Commercial at Cricket Ireland, Dennis Cousins.

“We have seen significant growth in participation numbers, match attendances, media coverage and across social media where we recently topped over 130,000 fans and followers.”

“Irish cricket offers a platform to brands to partner with a real Irish success story, in a fast growing space with an extensive global reach. We are delighted that we will have the opportunity to work with Abbey Travel for the next two years and look forward to Abbey Travel taking the Blarney Army to the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup.”
