Cycling Ireland has launched a new partnership with Bikmo offering insurance for members covering their bikes and kit from theft and accidental damage.
Cycling Ireland members already benefit from a personal insurance offering included in their membership including public liability and personal accident.
now there is an option to extend that to theft and accident via a policy with specialist cycling insurance company Bikmo.
The announcement comes after figures released by the gardaí reported a 15 percent rise in cycle theft in Dublin with an average of 12 bikes stolen every day and less than one in ten being recovered.
An indicative premium on insuring two bikes worth €200 each for a year would be around €50 with monthly options available from less than €5. Cycling Ireland and Triathlon Ireland members get a ten percent discount.
“Our aim in Cycling Ireland is to promote and develop cycling, and to support people in their enjoyment of the sport,” said Cycling Ireland CEO Geoff Liffey.
“We are delighted to partner with Bikmo, and to offer our members discounted insurance on their bikes and kit, with a proven insurance provider that understands cycling.”
