We have never had greater access to getting behind the scenes at the highest level of sport and Saturday’s Irish Rugby international against Wales was an example of just how much we can now expect.
The game was broadcast live on RTÉ on Saturday afternoon and Ireland’s win did much to restore confidence after the difficult day at Twickenham seven days before.
Irish Rugby and Videos on the Net were there throughout in the dressing rooms and in the tunnel to capture some of the moments that make up the whole of what it is like to experience playing at the highest level.
From a Welsh choir welcoming the team off the bus with a rendition of the Fields of Athenry through to the award of Jack Carty as man of the match it captures the moments that were once the preserve only of those on the very inside of the team environment.
Good for the players in terms of making them more accesible, good for the sport by allowing it to be better understood and good for the sponsors who gain extra exposure in a sharable form of media that sits outside the tightly controlled rights of the mainstream broadcast.
