This is the first time we have highlighted a daily video that contains no video.
There is method behind its absence though as the latest instalment in the 20X20 campaign looks to highlight the importance of its Can’t See, Can’t Be message.
The tagline is backed up by the message that ‘audience is everything’ and that we need the opportunity to see women sports stars in action in order to fully appreciate everything they have going for them in terms of skill and more.
It is well-timed coming off the back of a weekend when RTÉ showed the Women’s Hockey team secure their place at the Tokyo Olympics and Wexford Youths take the Só Hotels Women’s FAI Cup Final at the Aviva Stadium. Also on Saturday night Katie Taylor became a two-weight World Boxing Champion with live coverage from the Manchester Arena on Sky Sports.
A peak live audience of 379,000 watched the Hockey on Sunday night, more than had watched Ireland play Russia in the Rugby World Cup a few weeks ago.
This video highlights the skill and the moments through commentary from Marty Morrissey and Jimmy Magee among others. It’s a shame there wasn’t a female voice among the six commentary clips but maybe that’s another story altogether.
It is nevertheless another powerful statement in a campaign that continues to impress.
