On the eve of the second Dublin SportsFest we bring you today a series of videos created by the Dublin City Sport and Wellbeing Partnership to celebrate what it means to be from the City and how sport and being active is a vital part of that.
As Chair of the Partnership over the past two years, this has been a flagship event that Sport for Business’ Rob Hartnett was keen to see brought to life and then developed.
“This second year is focused each day on a different sector of society and the theme throughout is one of celebrating what local heroes are doing in and getting out of sporting activity,” said Hartnett.
“It’s not about sport at the highest evel though we have been greatly supported by those who are involved in being the best and they are a tremendous role model for others.
“This series though has focused on ordinary people and the extraordinary difference that sport has made in their lives, from Active Rowers who had never been active until after the age of 60 through to adults like Alice Connell who turned their life around through making a decision to get active and the story of the Finglas Cricket Club and the difference they have made within a community.
It is a special series, the videos were created by Future proof Media and we will be carrying updates on how this year’s Dublin SportsFest takes shape over the next seven days.
It has been a great initiative to be involved in and promises to be a great week of getting people out and active across the whole of the city.
