Today’s Daily video is an interview on the GAA’s networks with Gearóid Ó Maoilmhichíl, Chair of the Gender Diversity Working Group that was established last year across the gaelic Games sporting family.
Last year was the first in which the GAA, Camogie Association and Ladies Gaelic Football Association marched alongside each other in the Dublin Pride parade.
There are more athletes that have come out as Gay in the GAA than in most others and the welcome that players like Donal Óg Cusack and Valerie Mulcahy have received has made it easier for others to follow suit.
The first stage of a consultation document has now been distributed for comment and will be published shortly.
“We’ve had widespread consultation, we’re happy with the document and, as I say, following consultation we will now see if it requires major changes in the Association,” says Ó Maoilmhicíl.
