Yesterday was the deadline for Rugby Clubs around the country to get their tickets back for the IRFU’s Your Club, Your Country draw. The Irish Rugby TV team went down to Bruff in Limerick to bring us an example of how the draw can be used to raise money at club level.
We hear how the budget for the club comes in at around €140-150,000 per year and getting 1,000 tickets for the draw which were sold on to friends, family and within the community provides a significant boost to the club finances at no additional cost.
The draw for this year’s prizes which include VIP trips to the Rugby World Cup funded by Vodafone, Business class flights to the US supplied by Aer Lingus, a corporate hospitality package at the Galway races provided by Guinness as well as vouchers from Aldi, Elvery’s and Aviva, will take place on Monday, December 10th.
Last year’s draw was backed by Ulster Bank but their withdrawal from Rugby means there is no overall sponsor this year. Last year’s fundraising produced a boost of €580,000 across the 120 clubs that took part, bringing the overall amount raised by the initiative to over €4 million.
