eir Sport has announced that it has won the rights to broadcast Irish rugby’s return to Soldier Field for the test match against Italy on Saturday, November 3rd.
Coverage of the fixture will get underway at 7-30 PM on that evening.
eir Sport was in its infancy when it won the rights to show the win at the same venue over the All Blacks two years ago.
At that time the station made the game free to air as a promotional exercise to help launch the new brand.
Two years on it is fully established with the rights to show every game live in the Guinness PRO14 and heading into a year in which it has the rights to cover the Rugby World Cup.
No announcement has been made about the extent of coverage or whether the team of reporters and commentators from the PRO14 will double up from Chicago.
There is a full round of fixtures including Leinster and Munster both in South Africa that weekend though both of those games take place on Sunday 4th.
Connacht take on the Dragons at the Sportsground with a 5-15 PM start.
