The naming of the four new Board members at the FAI, including a new independent Chair, moved a step closer this week as the current Board was briefed on the recruitment process to date.
The Board were informed at a meeting this week that, following the adverts that appeared in national newspapers, international recruitment firm Amrop received over one hundred expressions of interest for the roles by the mid-August deadline.
A further 82 potential candidates were identified by Amrop, based on their Board level experience, skillset and qualifications.
Amrop drew up a long-list of suitable candidates and have spent the last number of weeks interviewing and assessing these individuals.
“The appointment of an Independent Chairperson and three Independent Directors is a crucial step forward in the reform process for the Association,” said FAI President Donal Conway.
“Amrop have concentrated on finding the right candidates over the past seven weeks. This process has been thorough and extensive and we would like to thank Amrop for their professionalism.”
“This week Amrop were required to deliver a presentation to the Nomination Committee on how the process was conducted. The Committee had the opportunity to question all aspects of the process.”
“Following this presentation the Committee are satisfied that the process was a robust one. The shortlist which will be presented for consideration by the Nominations Committee in the week beginning October 21st. The Board look forward to making an announcement in the coming weeks.”
It’s a crucial step and one which will be scrutinised carefully by commentators, Government and sponsors as the cards are laid out on the table of what direction the FAI is heading.
After that announcement, the process will begin very quickly to identify the next CEO of the organisation.
