Would you fancy yourself as Head of Sponsorship at Three? The role is available and advertised on Sport for Business today following news that Karl Donnelly is to leave for a new senior management role at Bulmers.
It is one of the biggest jobs in the industry looking after a portfolio of sponsorship properties that ranges from the Republic of Ireland soccer teams through to the 3Arena and multiple points between the two.
The Three partnership with the FAI will be ten years old next year and discussions on renewal are understood to be already underway.
The partnership with the 3 Arena, which came to Three with the takeover of O2 back in 2014 was renewed a year ago for another ten years.
Three is one of the principal backers of the 20X20 initiative and to the fore in the creation of really engaging content as part of their sponsorship activation.
Karl Donnelly joined Three in 2017 having overseen Heineken sponsorship activity and that of Digicel before.
His move to Bulmers coincides with their headline sponsorship of the Cheltenham Festival, though his role is understood to be wider than just the sponsorship.
Donnelly has been a great friend to Sport for Business down the years and we wish him well in the new venture.
His replacement will report directly to Chief Commercial Officer Elaine Carey and come in at the head of a strong team featuring Gavin McAllister and Oonagh Mangan. Orla Lawlor, who featured in our Sport for Business 30 Under 30 last year is also moving on, to London, and her replacement is also being sought in our Jobs in Sport section today.
