The Federation of Irish Sport is seeking expressions of interest to become an Independent Board Member with specific interest in Commercial Strategy and Development.
The vacancy has arisen due to Noel Mooney of UEFA, stepping in to the FAI as General Manager on a six month secondment from UEFA.
The Federation is the representative organisation for the National Governing Bodies of Sport and Local Sports Partnerships in Ireland.
Its membership consists of over 100 sporting bodies from every corner of the country.
Its vision is ‘to provide a dynamic and effective voice for Irish sport, promoting the value of sport to Ireland while providing outstanding representation and services to members.’
That promotion of the value of sport includes regular consultation on matters of sport with Government, including representation on the group steering implementation of the National Sports Policy and through regular meetings with Ministers and submissions.
It stages an annual conference and holds regular seminars with members on areas of interest.
The person who is appointed to the board will be involved in developing a market position for the Federation, identifying potential commercial partnerships and supporting the work that is undertaken in communication and campaign based activities.
The Board meets 8 times a year and has overall responsibility for the corporate governance of the Federation. Day to day management is delegated to the FIS management team.
Board members are required to use their best efforts to promote and support the development of the Federation and of Irish Sport.
Board members do not receive payment for their services.
If you are interested you are asked to forward a high level biography and a note outlining your interest in the role to the CEO of the Federation via email.
