GAA Season Takes Shape

Cancel any thought of last minute shopping on the last Saturday before Christmas.  That is the date set aside for the All ireland Football Final, so long as public health concerns over COVID-19 remain under control.

It will be preceded the Sunday before by the All ireland Hurling Final.  The AIB All Ireland Club Schools and Tailteann Cup Championships are postponed for this year but will hopefully be held in the early months of 2021.

All Club Championships will be completed in an 11 week window prior to the start of the Inter County season on October 17th.

The first games back will be the last two rounds of the Allianz Football League while Limerick and Clare have been declared winners of Divisions 1A and 1B in the Allianz Hurling League.  If the two sides are drawn together in the Munster Hurling Championship that will double up as an Allianz League decider.

The Football Championship at Provincial level will be based purely on a win or go home basis with no back door.  The All Ireland Football Semi Finals will take place two weeks before the final and be contested by the Provincial Champions.

All Knock Out games in hurling and football will be decided on the day, with penalties to decide progress if needed.

New York will not compete this year though at the moment it is envisaged that London will take part in the Connacht Championship.
