Gymnastics On A Roll

Gymnastics Ireland is looking forward to a big, and noisy weekend with the hosting of its main showcase event The Floor at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena on Saturday.

As many as 350 Gymnasts from clubs around the country will have the opportunity to show off their talents to an enthusiastic crowd at the sports dedicated facility in the Arena.

The showcase event is one of the number of ways in which the sport is gaining maximum benefit from pitching to be a key stakeholder in the Arena which opened up for business in January 2017.

There will be a charge for those attending the day with revenue dropping straight to the bottom line of a sport within which participation numbers have grown rapidly over the last five years.

Speaking at the Federation of Irish Sport Annual Conference last month Gymnastics Ireland CEO Ciaran Gallagher spoke of how the organisation had moved from having 5,000 members to 25,000 advocates and that this was just the start.

Gymnastics Ireland alongside Basketball Ireland, Athletics Ireland, The Confederation of Irish Golf, the GAA and FAI  are among the many sporting organisations that are all full members of Sport for Business.  Here is a look at what we do.

It’s latest annual report highlighted that financially the sport is on a solid footing with annual turnover in 2015 of €1.3 Million, up €400,000 on the previous year. The sport was 75 per cent self funded setting a benchmark for other sports to match through smart promotion and business planning.

On Saturday that will include the admission as well as custom printed official event t-shirts, catering and more. There will be official photography and videography taking place with each participating club getting a copy of their own highlights on the day.

That’s the kind of engagement which ensures satisfaction and wanting to come back for more. And that’s the kind of business model that will yield success for the long terms growth and development of the sport.
