Hedin Takes Over Sponsorship Role at Allianz

Allianz has appointed Valerie Hedin as Marketing Communications Manager. In her new role, taking over some of the elements managed by Damien O’Neill during his time with the business, Hedin will be responsible for developing the brand and reputation of Allianz in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Hedin will be a familiar face to Sport for Business readers having fronted Eirgrid’s GAA sponsorships in recent years.

Prior to this move to Allianz, she was head of external communications at that company where she was responsible for all brand and communications for the company and successfully grew the brand through periods of significant change.

EirGrid’s sponsorship portfolio includes the EirGrid Under 20 GAA Football Championship and being the official timing partner of the GAA, featuring on TV idents and more.

She has deep experience in marketing communications having worked in Sydney, Paris and Dublin for brands such as eir, American Express, Pyrex, Rubbermaid & Curver.

“I am thrilled to join Allianz and take on a new challenge,” said Hedin speaking to Sport for Business.

“Allianz has a strong presence in Ireland and its leadership team have significant ambitions to grow its customer base so this is an exciting time to be joining.”

Hedin will be working with Robert McEvoy, Head of Market Management, who has led the restructure and transformation of Allianz’ marketing organisation over the past two years.

“I am delighted to announce the appointment of Valerie Hedin to this position,” said McEvoy.

“Valerie brings a wealth of experience in marketing communications, brand management and sponsorship. We have big plans in relation to growing our business and Valerie will be a key figure in us further developing Allianz’ brand reach and reputation in the Irish market.”

Allianz has been a partner of the GAA for 28 years on the Allianz Leagues, Cumman na Mbunscoil and other initiatives.  It is also a long-standing partner of Paralympics Ireland

Allianz have been a long term partner of Sport for Business and supporter of our annual Sport for Social good report and conference which will take place for a third time in September 2020.
