The Women’s Gaelic Players Association and their retail partner Intersport Elverys are backing a new licensed mouthguard, in the latest extension of a partnership with world-leading manufacturer OPRO.
The new OPRO Power-Fit model will carry WGPA branding and be available online and instore through Intersport Elverys.
Each of the mouthguards comes with a 12 Month Dental Warranty worth €20,000, which suggests a degree of pretty strong confidence in their effectiveness.
OPRO has been a partner of the WGPA since the start of 2017, when it became mandatory for all Ladies Football players to wear a mouthguard at training and in games.
Ladies Football stars Eimear Scally (Cork) and Neamh Woods (Tyrone) were present at the launch of the new mouthguard in Intersport Elverys flagship store on Henry Street in Dublin.
“It’s great there is now a premium mouthguard product available to purchase which directly supports female players and it’s further recognition of their commitment,” said Woods.
“They are really comfortable and feel like they’re providing maximum protection.”
“We’re delighted to launch the WGPA licensed Power-Fit mouthguard, which further extends our commitment to helping Ladies Football and Gaelic Football across all levels,” added David Allen, CEO of the OPRO GROUP.
“As retail partner to the WGPA, we’re delighted to support key supplier OPRO on this initiative to distribute their new model and back this partnership,” added Anne-Marie Hanley, Senior Marketing Manager at Intersport Elverys.
“All Gaelic players have to wear a mouthguard and this new concept from OPRO and the WGPA will result in more female players feeling comfortable in the fact that their dental health is protected. This will hopefully have a positive knock-on effect of more younger girls playing football.”
Elverys Intersport are also backing the Irish Rugby 7’s team in World Cup action in California starting this weekend and which we will feature on Sport for Business in the coming days.
