The Irish Fan Data Analytics company, Sportego have been shortlisted for the Best Use of Analytics, Data or Research Award at the prestigious BT Sport Industry Awards, taking place at Battersea Evolution in London, on Thursday 26th April 2018.
The Kilkenny based organisation, which partners with Sport for Business top produce our monthly look at Irish sport in Social Media, works to deliver digital analytic and engagement solutions for sponsors, clubs and their fans.
The shortlisting for the Award is in recognition for their analytics work with Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
Using Sportego’s data-driven insights, the club achieved record ticket sales in the T20 Blast tournament, increased average gate attendances and also sold out fixtures against Yorkshire in Chesterfield and their quarter final game against Hampshire.
Central to that success were data-driven marketing campaigns, which enabled the club to personalise communications with their supporters.
Working with a segmented supporter database allows for efficient and effective ticketing and advertisement campaigns, focusing efforts on contacting supporters who would likely be interested in specific games, tournaments and products.

Two other Irish companies have been shortlisted in the Performance Technology of the Year category. Statsports based in Newry are in with their Apex technology while Kitman Labs, Winner of an Innovation Award at a Sport for Business, Business of Sports Science event on 2015, are also shortlisted for their Athlete Optimisation System.
Other Sport for Business members to receive nominations include the European Tour for Social Media and Film Content, Nissan for International Marketing Campaign of the Year around the UEFA Champions’ League, and SSE for their Wildcats Programme supporting Girls in Football with the FA.
