Jobs in Sport: Media and Comms at Basketball Ireland

Basketball Ireland is looking for a new Media and Communications Manager following the decision of Mary McGuire to leave for a role working with Wilson Hartnell.

The role will include responsibility for managing all communications for the organisation, internally and externally, and will give plenty of scope for a creative individual to build on the work that McGuire has put in place over the last four years.

It is a sport that is rich in content through clubs and competitions as well as reaching out internationally through the exploits of the Irish teams at underage and senior level.

There will be liaison and support for mainstream broadcast media including TG4’s coverage of the annual Cup Finals weekend in Tallaght and a key role as well in the promotion and marketing of the sport.

Candidates are invited to apply by email to CEO Bernard O’Byrne on or before the close of business this Friday, March 27th so time to dust down your communication skills if you want to be considered.

Each application should include a CV and cover letter as well as a sample written match report running to around 400 words.

The successful candidate is likely to have experience in a similar role and a qualification that is relevant. They will have competence across all social media and other communications channel as well as a familiarity with content management systems.

It is a great chance to get involved with a sport that has grown in strength over recent years and is now in a position to compete in and host European Championship finals.
