Jobs in Sport: Social Inclusion

Cara, the organisation charged with promoting sport for people with disabilities is looking to appoint a national coordinator.

Cara works closely with Local Sports Partnerships across the country and the new role has come about as a result of new funding from the Dorman Accounts Fund and Sport Ireland.

With additional investment of €1 million made available to promote Disability sport opportunities at local level, the role will have scope to make a significant difference.

Last year Cara unveiled a charter for organisations to adopt in terms of providing open access to people with disability. Sport for Business was an early adopter of the charter and will be working closely with Cara on a number of initiatives over the next twelve months.

The Sport Inclusion Coordinator will be responsible for the strategic development and implementation of key objectives specific to increasing sustainable community sport and physical activity opportunities for people with disabilities.

A key priority will be to guide, advise and support the national network of Local Sports Partnerships through collaboration with Sport Ireland’s Participation Unit and the national network of Sports Inclusion Disability Officers.
