Sky Ireland has confirmed that from tomorrow January 29th, LaLigaTV, the new dedicated channel showing all live content from Spain’s top-flight La Liga Santander will be available at no extra cost to Sports Extra customers.
It means that football fans who take Sports Extra alongside Sky Sports will now be able to enjoy all live matches from Spain’s top international football league including the next El Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona on Sunday, 1 March at 8 pm as well as all Saturday 3 pm games.
The service gets off to a flying start for Spanish football fans with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid facing each other live this Saturday, February 1st at 3 pm.
LaLigaTV will also broadcast daily studio shows, archive footage, features and documentaries on Spanish football. The new channel is available on channel 435 on Sky.
Those involved in analysis will include Guillem Balagué, Graham Hunter, Terry Gibson, Sid Lowe, Gaizka Mendieta and Gus Poyet.
Spanish TV rights were bought by Eleven Sports last season but the service came to a halt and while a select number of games were shown by ITV in England and Premier Sports, there has been a gap so far this season.
Premier Sports will continue to offer the service as a stand-alone channel in the UK but its entire output, barring the Guinness PRO14 coverage the rights for which here are held between eir Sport and TG4, is available in Ireland as part of the Sky Sports Extra pack.
“This is fantastic news for sports fans who want all the action in one place,” said Sky Ireland CEO JD Buckley.
“We are delighted to be able to offer Sports Extra customers top-class LaLiga fixtures via LaLigaTV on top of a wealth of football action on the Sports Extra pack.”
Sky Sports Extra includes BT Sport 1,2 and 3, ESPN, Premier Sports 1 and 2 and now La Liga TV.
It costs €10 on top of an existing Sky Sports subscription.
