Leinster GAA Launches Online Coach Resource Pack

As GAA clubs prepare for a return to action in the coming days, Leinster GAA has launched a number of new TURAS Coaching Resources.

TURAS is the official Coach Developer Programme of Leinster GAA and is based around one simple philosophy that better coaches equals better players.

The initiative is aimed at coaches working with players aged 4 to 17 in clubs, schools and academy squads.

In clubs, for example, TURAS works by providing player pathway workshops applicable to each age group, and offering resources to all coaches.

So far over 6,000 Coaches have engaged with and passed through the Programme.

It recognises that coaching is central to a player’s development, and that investing in quality, long-term sustainable coach education will have significant impact on the progress of young players and thus the competitiveness of senior teams into the future.

“TURAS has been a great asset to us here in Carlow since it’s rollout, and I know from talking to other counties it has had the same effect across all the Leinster counties,” said Carlow GAA Games Manager Sean Gannon.

“Due to the current pandemic, our plans in 2020 have had to change from a face to face approach with coaches to a more online focused interaction.”

“Since its inception TURAS has been the cornerstone of everything we have done in the Province from a Games Development viewpoint,” added Leinster GAA Chair Pat Teehan.

“Supporting both Coaches and Players on their journey is something we place an extremely high value on, and this new content will go a long way towards furthering that goal.”

“The production of such high quality resources is a result of a lot of hard work over the last few months, and I would just like to pay tribute to all the staff who contributed in what must be said are extremely difficult circumstances.”
