Lidl Ireland has launched a new exercise programme and microsite ‘Lidl Moves’ in support of the latest chapter in the 20X20 campaign.

‘Lidl Moves’ has been created to encourage and motivate women of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to give themselves the gift of exercise and form a new and lasting exercise habit for the good of their physical and, more importantly, mental health.

Participants are invited to start their journey by taking the physical activity questionnaire that will give an understanding of how they like to be active, with the aim of then providing women with a relevant starting point on the road to a new habit.

The programme is fronted by Lidl and official 20×20 ambassador, Sarah Rowe and is supported by fellow Lidl ambassadors Ciara Mageean, Katie Mullan, Aoibhín Garrihy, and Caitríona Redmond.

There are six different activities available on the site including: walking, jogging, cycling, yoga, home workouts and dancing, with a beginner and intermediate goal for each activity in order for it to cater for a variety of different levels of ability and experience.

The resources section of the microsite provides full details of each activity and includes video instructions, expert tips, advice and routines from some of Ireland’s leading sportswomen.

‘Lidl Moves’ will guide participants through the first 20 days of their new habit creation, with all movers then encouraged to take responsibility for their newly-formed habit from day 21 through the rest of their lives.

“Through our sponsorship of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association and our support for women’s sport in general, we have seen first-hand the barriers that exist for women in a sporting landscape that is dominated by male sport,” said Joe Mooney, Senior Partnerships Manager for Lidl Ireland.

“20×20 is about creating a more inclusive, healthier Ireland and we are proud to be part of such a worthwhile movement. We want women of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to feel comfortable and supported as they make physical activity a part of their daily lives, so ‘Lidl Moves’ is here to help anyone who needs it.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Lidl Ireland for this chapter of the 20×20 movement,” added Sharon O’Connor, Campaign Manager at 20×20.

“We hope to encourage women of all ages and abilities to discover or rediscover the enjoyment of exercise. Being active and moving is a gift we can each give ourselves. We understand that there are challenges and obstacles in everyday life that can often be a barrier for women to get out there and move, and that’s why ‘Lidl Moves’ is focused on what you can do in just 20 minutes every day or a few times a week, indoors or outdoors.”

“Exercise has many benefits for health and mental health not to mention our overall well-being, and we are excited to work hand-in-hand with Lidl Ireland inspiring women to try something new or build on what they already do, for themselves – No proving. Just moving.”
