Littlewoods Adding Style to Hurling

Littlewoods Ireland is putting style at the heart of the second year of its partnership with the GAA. The online retail brand is one of the three title sponsors of the All Ireland Hurling Championship and will be going to the grassroots more in a development of their year one campaign theme around #StyleofPlay.

Style ambassador Austin Gleeson, two-time All Star Anthony Nash and four-time All-Ireland champion Kieran Joyce were in Dublin yesterday to announce details of Littlewoods Ireland’s ‘Style My Wall’ competition which has a grand prize valued at €10,000.

This summer, throughout the Provincial Championships, the fashion, sportswear, electrical and homeware online retailer will be giving its fans, followers and customers the opportunity to win €5,000 in cash for their club and to have their club’s hurling wall ‘styled’ by Littlewoods Ireland.

Working in collaboration with a top-class artist and the style team in Littlewoods Ireland, the winning club will help to design a bespoke mural for their wall celebrating all that is special and unique about their club.

The competition will launch across Littlewoods Ireland’s social channels tomorrow, Thursday the 17th of May and will run for six weeks.

Each week fans will be asked to vote for who they think was the most stylish hurler of the week. They will then be in with a chance to win tickets, Littlewoods Ireland goodies, and to go into the draw for the grand prize. The overall winner will be announced on Wednesday the 27th of June.

“This is our second year in partnership with the GAA and the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship and we wanted to continue to celebrate the sport and reward fans for their passion and support,” said Littlewoods Ireland Managing Director Geoff Scully.

“We have lots of surprises planned for throughout the season but our ‘Style My Wall’ initiative was a natural link to bring #StyleOfPlay off the pitch and into one lucky club.”

“Whether you play for your county, your club, or have just started to puc around, hurlers of all levels spend hours staring at a hurling wall perfecting their skills.”

“We in Littlewoods Ireland wanted to create something beautiful and inspirational for one lucky GAA club that would celebrate their club and everything that makes it unique.”

The #StyleOfPlay will continue throughout the Championship season bringing together the world of sport and fashion while showcasing the style and skills of the players representing their counties this summer.

“We have already had a superb start to the championship season and it’s impossible not to be excited by the prospect of so many attractive games in the weeks and months ahead,” added GAA President John Horan.

“We look forward to working with Littlewoods Ireland for the second year bringing the game to an even wider audience through some of the highest profile names in the game.”

“Their plans reflect the creativity they bring to our partnership and I would encourage clubs and supporters to embrace their campaign as the action intensifies.”
