Live Streaming Wins for Five Sports

Five sports have been announced as winners in a fund to encourage greater visibility of Women in Sport.

The ‘Showcase your Sportswomen Live’ fund is backed by the Federation of Irish Sport, supported by Sport Ireland and will be delivered by Pundit Arena.

Cycling Ireland, Golf Ireland, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball Ireland and Rowing Ireland will be awarded the services of Pundit Arena to live stream a sporting event in 2020 where there is female participation.

These will include Track Cycling International, an Ultimate Frisbee test match against  Great Britain, the Level Par Golf Conference, a Splash ‘n’ Dash event at Grand Canal Dock and the Volleyball National League Finals.

Coverage will include interviews and social media promotion as well as live streaming on the Pundit Arena site and through the National Governing Bodies own channels.

“We are delighted to announce the worthy recipients,” said Mary O’Connor, CEO of the Federation of Irish Sport.

“The volume and quality of applications were exceptionally high and we are excited to be able to bring such fantastic and innovative events to life in 2020.”

“It is vital that women in sport are given the opportunity to be as visible as possible and that such events are shared with as wide an audience as possible to help grow participation across all sports.”

“Sport Ireland is delighted to provide investment to the Federation of Irish Sport through the Women in Sport programme,” added Women in Sport Lead for Sport Ireland, Nora Stapleton.

“Visibility is one of the key target areas of the Women in Sport Policy and thus supporting initiatives such as this means that visibility and profile of our female role models in sport is increasing.”
