Maher Signs Up for Teneo PSG

Double All Ireland Hurling Champion with Tipperary Brendan Maher is taking up a new role where he will be arranging media interviews as opposed to sitting on the side of the table facing a battery of recorders and microphones.

Maher has joined Teneo Sports as a senior consultant based out of their Dublin offices. The company works with a number of clients in and around the sporting world.

Teneo Sports are also global partners alongside Sport for Business in the One-Zero event bringing Tony McCoy, Hope Solo and a host of leading sporting thinkers together at Croke Park on October 17th.

Maher is a two-time All-Ireland winner with Tipperary at senior level and brings with him vast experience, from a brand ambassador perspective, of sponsorship and sports PR.

He has also held many leadership positions including being one of only a handful of players to have captained All-Ireland minor and senior winning teams and is the Tipperary Senior Hurlers’ GPA lead squad representative.

In his new role, Maher will concentrate on brand ambassador selection and strategy; media training for young athletes; sponsorship activation; sports PR; leadership talks and strategy.

He joins Teneo Sports having previously worked as a primary school teacher, set-up and co-managed the Solus Autism Unit in Loughmore, Co. Tipperary and managed a high-performance gym.

He holds a Bachelor of Education from Mary Immaculate College, Limerick and a Certificate in Strength and Conditioning from Setanta College, Maynooth.

We wish him well in the new role.

Teneo PSG, PwC, AIG, Allianz, Bord Gais Energy, eir Sport and Sport Ireland are all among the more than 220 organisations that play an active part of the Sport for Business community.
