McGinley Departing the FAI

We want to take the opportunity this morning to with the very best of luck to Darragh McGinley who is leaving the FAI today having served as Digital and Social Media Editor for the past three years.

He leaves behind a digital media operation that has consistently performed to the very highest level in the ever more fractured world of sports news and content.

McGinley signs off in style having topped the monthly Social Media Review published by Sport for Business and Olytico across engagement on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Irish Sport in Social Media – December 2018

He was a polished speaker when representing the FAI in our Social media Focus slot at The Sporting Year Ahead in January 2016 and has always been a keen advocate of the sport and the way in which it can be brought to life for fans.

McGinley is pictured below waiting his turn to interview Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy last month. He can also list President Michael D Higgins among those he has captured for the FAI’s digital media channels.

He previously spent a year on the communications team at Leinster rugby but is now leaving the sports world for a new role at online recruitment specialists Indeed.

He will be missed from the role but we wish him every bit of luck for the next chapter.
