The latest edition of the Irish Times Inside Business podcast is focused on sport and features a wide ranging interview with the GAA’s Peter McKenna on the commercial present and future of the Association.
In conversation with host Ciarán Hancock and fellow guest Mick O’Keefe of Teneo PSG, McKenna speaks about the season past in terms of revenue, the importance of sponsorship and other sources of revenue, the cost of cash at Croke Park and other Stadia, and the potential within the next year for the GAA broadcasting matches live on its own GAA Now platform.
McKenna gives thoughtful and considered commentary on areas including the importance of the volunteer ethos within the GAA and the aim of giving back an incredibly high but consistent 86 percent of revenues back into the units of the GAA.
It is well worth a listen for anyone with an interest in the business of sport in general and of the GAA in particular.
