Meenaghan Wins Major USA Award

The Chairman of Core Sponsorship Tony Meenaghan has been honoured with a major ward in Chicago by the American Marketing Association.

The AMA’s Sport and Sponsorship Marketing Special Interest Group has named him as the winner of the 2018 “Distinguished Career Contributions to the Scientific Understanding of Sport Business Award.”

That is a bit of a mouthful but it is recognition of Meenaghan’s long-term contribution to sponsorship over the last near 40 years.

Aside from his involvement in the creation of Livewire and its transition into Core Sponsorship, Meenaghan is Emeritus Professor of Marketing at the Smurfit Business School at UCD and a Visiting Professor of Marketing in the Lubin School of Business at Pace University in New York.

Meenaghan’s seminal articles on sponsorship have been cited more than 5,000 times and published in a number of premier journals, including Psychology & Marketing, International Journal of AdvertisingJournal of Advertising ResearchJournal of Business Research, and European Journal of Marketing.
