national-sport-policyMinisters Shane Ross and Patrick O’Donovan will formally launch the National Sports policy Framework Consultation at the Aviva Stadium later today.

Sport for Business will be there to bring you the latest news on how this is likely to roll out and come to life over the coming months.

The Ministers will be joined by Republic of Ireland football manager Martin O’Neill and Paralympic swimming medallist Ellen Keane as well as many of those working within Irish sport for whom the new National policy will provide a blueprint for how they promote and build sport for the country as a whole.

It will be interesting to see the balance that will be achieved through supporting athletes at the top of the game with the more participative elements that will encourage the nation to get moving and become fitter.

The National Sport policy will run in parallel to the National Physical Activity plan and we would hope to see lots of crossover points between the two.

We will also look to see where the business community and society at large will be encouraged to get involved and to leverage Government support for the greater good of sport and the nation.

It promises to be a key moment in how we treat sport.  It will be the first National Sports policy for well over a decade and is coming at a time when sport is ever more an integral part of the way we live.
