New School Campaign Launched for 20X20

Kids thoughts today will be on getting out of school for the mid-term break but this morning we can reveal something that will get them energised a couple of weeks after their return.

#Active20X20 is a new campaign which Sport for Business has helped to bring to life as part of a schools working group within the 20X20 initiative run by the Federation of Irish Sport and created by Along Came a Spider.

Schools and individual classes are being asked to get active with some form of exercise, movement, sport or dance on Friday March 8th and share their efforts through images and video on social media using the #Active20X20 and #ShowYourStripes hashtags.

This element of the campaign came from a brainstorm session including the main partners as well as Sport for Business, the Ladies Gaelic Football Association and the FAI.  It is a way of reaching out to girls with a phyical movement message on International Women’s Day which this year falls on that Friday.

It’s the latest initiative to come from the campaign which recently launched a media awards programme and has been really kicking up a storm across different sponsors, including Lidl, 3 and AIG from within the Sport for Business community, as well as sporting organisations, media and everyone with an interest in promoting Women and Girls in sport.

The class which is deemed to have created the most fun and inclusive way to participate will win a VIP visit from an elite athlete as well as 20X20 merchandise for the class.

Inspired in part by the Dublin City Council #GAGA initiative (Getting All Girls Active), it is something which should be fun as well as fundamentally positive for children across all schools.

Ask your kids over the coming weeks are they going to get involved.  The more the merrier and we will be sharing some of the best moves on the day.
