Olympic Tickets on Sale from Today

Summer 2020 promises to be an epic one for sport with the Euro 2020 Finals taking place in part in Dublin and Ireland hoping for a best-ever Olympic Games showing in Tokyo.

The window of the first phase of ticketing for the former closed on Friday and the opportunity to purchase tickets for the latter is open from this morning.

Irish people who are planning to travel to Tokyo for the Games can purchase the tickets through the Team Ireland Authorised Ticket Reseller, Elamys Group.

They were chosen after a long and detailed selection process following on from the challenges and negative publicity surrounding ticketing at the Rio Olympic Games.

There are two options for members of the Irish public to obtain tickets through Elamys Group.

The first is to buy tickets only, or standalone tickets and 70% of tickets will be sold in this way. In the case of people interested in following team sports, like the Irish Hockey Team or the Irish Rugby 7s Team, supporters have the option of purchasing a ‘Follow My Team’ ticket.

The second option that is available is to purchase a package, which will account for 30% of ticket sales. There are ready to go and create your own package choices in this category, depending on the flexibility you might want as a traveller.

One of the Olympic ‘Experience’ packages on offer this morning offers flights and four nights accommodation with tickets for one session of athletics, to include a victory ceremony, a session at the Olympic Golf tournament and tickets for the Hockey Semi-Finals. That comes in at a cost of €2,065 per person.

“July 24 next year marks the opening of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games which are approaching fast,” said Olympic Federation of Ireland CEO Peter Sherrard.

“Tickets for Japanese residents were very strong when they were released in June, so we urge Irish customers to book as early as possible to avoid disappointment.”
