One-Zero Start Up Finalists Named

The four finalists in the One-Zero Front Runner competition for sports tech start ups has been unveiled a little under two weeks before the global gathering takes place at the Aviva Stadium.

Applications had been received from 12 countries around the world and the four finalists, all of whom will pitch on the Main Stage at One-Zero on September 17th, have come from Ireland, the UK and Israel.

Pico, based in Israel is a platform which enables brands to connect closer to their fans on a one-on-one basis, through digital activation and in-game experiences.

They are currently working with brands such as the NHL, Samsung, Nike and Universal to help engage, captivate and convert their fans.

Reactoo is based in the UK and aims to make watching sport more of a social experience, through providing a platform where fans can remotely watch sports events together with their friends and family.

Their platform synchronizes video chat and sports live-streams so that friends can enjoy a match together, regardless of where they are in the world.

Volograms is a Dublin-based technology startup which uses multiple camera viewpoints to turn a simple video into a VR and AR type vologram.

This can be viewed on any smartphone, tablet or VR headset. They are working with the likes of Facebook and Snapchat to help redefine the way creators and brands communicate with their fans.

Snaptivity are a multi-award winning UK tech company. They use AI-controlled robotic cameras to identify, measure and capture emotional spikes at live events.

They work with the likes of the Premier League and related partners to capture candid and memorable match moments, which put the fan at the centre of the action.

Each of the four companies will have the opportunity to pitch to the One-Zero 2019 audience and take questions at the event at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on September 17th.

The inaugural winner of the Front Runner title will then be selected through a process involving an audience poll and a judging panel including Benjamin Penkert, founder of SportsTechX and representatives from Dublin City Council and Dublin Business In the Community.  The successful team will be awarded a €10,000 cash prize.

Conor Carmody is Manager of the Investor-Ready Accelerator at Dublin BIC, which works with approximately 100 start-ups each year and helped deliver the competition.

The calibre of entries for the Front Runner competition was extremely high, leading to what we expect will be a very close pitch battle at One-Zero 2019 with those competing walking away with big benefits in terms of profile and access to collaboration opportunities, not to mention a significant financial injection”.

We also proudly supported the Inspire Women in Sport initiative which saw 25 tickets awarded to leading Women who are members of Sport for Business and a 25 per cent discount on tickets for all Women working in the sector which runs through to this Friday, September 6th.

Among the confirmed speakers on a high powered international line up are Mike Downey, Director of Sport Technology at Microsoft, Swan Sit, VP of Global Digital Marketing at Nike and Jordan Udko, VP of Commercial Partnerships for Cloud9 Esports.

One-Zero 2019 combines the original One-Zero, The Fan Engagement Conference and the Irish Sponsorship Summit into one major event for the Irish and International sporting and business communities.

The agenda for the day will see up to 500 delegates enjoy four stages of cutting-edge keynotes, insights and learning around the sports industry’s key issues.
