Paddle Day to Encourage Canoe Participation

Canoeing Ireland have launched a new #BeActive Paddle Day which will take place on Saturday 26th of September as part of the European Week of Sport.

The event aims to promote sport and physical activity by getting as many people as possible out on the water for their first time, to experience the great benefits of exercise and the great experiences on offer on our waterways.

Activities will be hosted at over 30 locations across the country where Canoeing Ireland affiliated clubs and Outdoor Education and Training Centres will host beginner sessions for the public in their area.  Participation is being encouraged regardless of age, ability or experience.

The event is being backed by Sport Ireland and the European Commission.

Each session will last approximately 2 hours and will take place on flat water on either a river,
canal, the sea, or a lake. To find out more information on the event and the locations it is taking place, go to
