The Sport Industry Awards took place in an online format yesterday with each of the categories being announced via a video message from sports stars including Carl Frampton, Mario Itoje, Jessica Ennis Hill and Dame Tanni Grey Thompson.
Five of our Sport for Business members were up for awards including Guinness, the European Tour, Coca Cola and Fifty-Three Six.
All did incredibly well to be nominated but the one winner to emerge was Paddy power for their brilliant Save Our Shirt campaign with Huddersfield town and across the English football landscape.
We caught up yesterday with Lee Price, Head of PR and Mischief at the betting and gaming giant.
“Paddy Power are delighted to win Sport Industry’s UK Campaign of the Year for the second year running – apparently, if we do the treble next year, they’ll give us a special edition trophy based on the dimensions of Paddy’s head.”
“Save Our Shirt was a wild ride, featuring bunkering down for a few days when we got inundated with criticism for our sash-style shirt – or from punters asking where they could get one.”
“But the pay off of the reveal was worth it all. Because, at Paddy Power, we know our place – and it ain’t on your shirt.”
Congratulations to all the team. We will feature a number of the other nominated campaigns in our Daily Video slot over the next couple of weeks.
